The Heart of Our Work

At Hoof to Heart, we are devoted to sharing the medicine of Equus—presence—by cultivating meaningful, respectful relationships between horses and humans. Through a holistic approach to horsemanship, we support riders in developing emotional intelligence, body awareness, and self-awareness, recognizing that the way we relate to horses often reflects how we relate to ourselves and the world around us.

More than a riding program, Hoof to Heart is a community. We believe the barn should be a place of belonging—where people come together, feel welcomed, and find connection not only with horses, but with one another. Our students are not simply riders passing through a lesson; they are valued members of a shared space where encouragement, mentorship, and friendship naturally grow.

Our mission is to foster partnerships grounded in trust, communication, and authenticity, where both horse and human are seen, heard, and honored in the process of growth. By bringing people together around the wisdom of horses, we aim to create an environment where learning extends beyond the saddle and where every person who joins our program becomes part of something greater than themselves.

We provide tailored programs to meet your unique horsemanship needs. Our services range from beginner to advanced training, fostering a safe and nurturing learning environment.

Lessons

At Hoof to Heart Horsemanship, our lessons are designed to support both rider and horse in achieving their fullest potential. With dual certifications—CHA Level 4 English with Jumping and Level 3 Western, as well as Competition Level Equestrian Canada Coach—I bring a multidisciplinary approach that blends the best of English and Western training.

Our focus goes beyond riding techniques. Every lesson emphasizes correct biomechanics, body awareness, and communication, helping riders move with clarity and confidence while ensuring their horses move in balance, comfort, and harmony.

Whether your goal is improving performance, developing a deeper connection with your horse, or enhancing your own presence and skill, lessons are tailored to meet you where you are—physically, mentally, and emotionally.

Clinics & Camps

At Hoof to Heart Horsemanship, we host several clinics/Camps each year onsite, providing a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in embodied, conscious horsemanship. Our facilities offer comfortable accommodations, allowing participants to focus fully on learning, connection, and growth over one or multiple days.

We also accept clinic requests for barns willing to host, bringing our multidisciplinary approach directly to your community. Clinics are tailored to meet the needs of the group, whether you’re working with English, Western, or mixed-discipline riders.

Potential topics include:

  • Relational horsemanship and building trust with your horse

  • Improving rider and horse biomechanics for balance and performance

  • Cross-discipline techniques: English and Western fundamentals

  • Jumping fundamentals and safe progression

  • Mind-body awareness and presence for horse and rider

  • Empowering riders to understand and influence their horse’s movement

Clinics at Hoof to Heart focus on practical skills, personal growth, and deepening the connection between horse and rider, making every session a transformative experience for both horse and human.

Training & Development

At Hoof to Heart Horsemanship, our training approach puts the horse at the center. We focus on teaching horses to connect mind and body, fostering conscious awareness and creating a true partnership with their rider.

Through a foundation of relational horsemanship and choice-based interaction, horses are invited to engage in a dialogue with their handler—learning when to relax, deactivate, or move confidently. This approach supports a healthy nervous system, allowing horses to respond with ease, trust, and willingness, rather than tension or resistance.

We emphasize self-carriage and balanced movement, helping each horse develop strength, coordination, and confidence in their own body. The result is a relaxed, reliable partner capable of performing in any ring or environment, while maintaining clarity, trust, and a willingness to communicate.

Our training philosophy is rooted in respect, awareness, and partnership—creating horses who are physically sound, mentally present, and emotionally confident, and riders who understand how to work with, not over, their horse.
